Anniversary "Traditions"

Each year Wendy and I set aside time to watch our wedding video and have a glass of bubbly (sparkling grape juice). Usually we have a date for dinner and get someone to watch the kids. This year...our 13th anniversary we did the same, only we had all the girls join us in this "tradition".

This year our anniversary actually fell on Monday, the Memorial Day holiday. We spent the better part of the day doing family stuff. It was opening weekend for the neighborhood pool and we spent several hours at the cold pool eating well done hot dogs and dodging raindrops. It didn't feel so much like an anniversary day. But our children are a wonderful evidence of God's faithfulness and blessing in our marriage!

A funny pattern developed while we watched the wedding video. Callie kept asking questions about the ceremony, why are they not supposed to sit in the front row? Why do you trade rings? Why do you kiss? Why do you throw the flowers? Why do you toss the garter belt? Why? why? why?

Each time Callie asked her question, one or all of us responded with because it's "tradition"!

she started catching on...just about the time the video was finished.
