The Homeschool Journey

A few thoughts I wanted to capture from the book I just finished reading.

The Homeschool Journey by Susan (and Michael) Card:

pg. 125 "Teaching a child with learning difficulties can be like running a marathon. For so long you just run and run, the ribbon out of your range of sight. Finally a moment comes when you catch sight of the goal and eventually you break through it. Somehow the race means so much more because it required so much more effort."

pg. 134 "We are so often tempted toward teh easy and the expedient. We must choose the right path, in spite of its difficulty. We can either lounge about at the base of the mountain looking upward, denying what lies before us, or we can brace ourselves for the task and prepare to make the breathtaking climb."

pg. 150 "We can stuff our minds full of facts, but if we do not engage the heart in the process, then our education is unbalanced and will leave us ill-equipped to face moral and social issues. We need more than just knowledge. We need wisdom."
